State of the Climate in 2025 |
|
An international, peer-reviewed publication released each summer, the State of the Climate is the authoritative annual summary of the global climate published as a supplement to the Bulletin of the American Meteorological Society. The report is based on contributions from scientists from around the world. It provides a detailed update on global climate indicators, notable weather events, and other data collected by environmental monitoring stations and instruments located on land, water, ice, and in space. This is the 36th issuance of the annual assessment now known as State of the Climate, published in the Bulletin since 1996. As a supplement to the Bulletin, its foremost function is to document the status and trajectory of many components of the climate system. However, as a series, the report also documents the status and trajectory of our capacity and commitment to observe the climate system.

Dlaczego polskie rzeki wysychają? |
|

Zdaniem naszego gościa to złudzenie.
Radio Naukowe

Record-breaking heat and extreme weather continue |
|
the World Meteorological Organization 12 August 2026 Record land and sea surface temperatures, heat, drought, fire and floods define the state of the climate in July and early August. Extreme heat, persistent drought and dangerous wildfires have been the hallmarks of northern hemisphere summer for many countries, whilst heavy rainfall and flooding have caused loss of life in other parts of the world.
The continuing series of high-impact weather and climate events once again underscores the need for reliable and timely forecasts and early warnings, and for monitoring and information services from the WMO community to limit the cascading impacts on society and economies.
Globally, it was the joint warmest July on record – tying with July 2024, according to the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).
“Climatologically, July is the warmest month of the year. July 2026 and 2024 are more likely than not the warmest months on record for the globe since 1850,” said NOAA.

World Meteorological Organization These El Niño monitoring maps by SENAMHI PERU show sea surface temperature anomalies in the Central Pacific from two days ago – well ahead of the forecasted peak in November.
WMO and its Members are closely monitoring the development of this major climate event, which will have far reaching impacts on marine ecosystems, on our temperature and rainfall patterns, and our communities and economies, in the months ahead.

There is unequivocal evidence that Earth is warming at an unprecedented rate. Human activity is the principal cause. |
|
Science.Nasa.gov/climate-change/evidence
While Earth’s climate has changed throughout its history, the current warming is happening at a rate not seen in the past 10,000 years.
According to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), "Since systematic scientific assessments began in the 1970s, the influence of human activity on the warming of the climate system has evolved from theory to established fact."
Scientific information taken from natural sources (such as ice cores, rocks, and tree rings) and from modern equipment (like satellites and instruments) all show the signs of a changing climate.
From global temperature rise to melting ice sheets, the evidence of a warming planet abounds.
# Global Temperature Is Rising. The planet's average surface temperature has risen about 2 degrees Fahrenheit (1 degrees Celsius) since the late 19th century, a change driven largely by increased carbon dioxide emissions into the atmosphere and other human activities. Most of the warming occurred in the past 40 years, with the seven most recent years being the warmest. The years 2016 and 2020 are tied for the warmest year on record.
# The Ocean Is Getting Warmer The ocean has absorbed much of this increased heat, with the top 100 meters (about 328 feet) of ocean showing warming of 0.67 degrees Fahrenheit (0.33 degrees Celsius) since 1969.6 Earth stores 90% of the extra energy in the ocean.
#The Ice Sheets Are Shrinking The Greenland and Antarctic ice sheets have decreased in mass. Data from NASA's Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment show Greenland lost an average of 279 billion tons of ice per year between 1993 and 2019, while Antarctica lost about 148 billion tons of ice per year. |

W Polsce elektrownie ograniczają moc z powodu zbyt ciepłej i zbyt płytkiej Wisły. Susza obejmuje 65 proc. gmin. W Rumunii problemy z wodą zagroziły pracy elektrowni jądrowej, a fabryki ograniczały produkcję.
Zmiana klimatu staje się wielkim testem wytrzymałościowym dla energetyki, transportu, rolnictwa, gospodarki i naszych miast."
